K-Tek has recently announced a new lineup of professional boom poles: the Indie Pole. Available in three different maximum lengths, ranging from 7.4″/2.24 m to 11.2″/3.4 m, these boom poles are made from a composite material, which makes them lightweight and durable, while being more affordable than carbon fiber poles.
When it comes to high-quality boom poles, American manufacturer K-Tek has a solid reputation for creating some of the best tools money can buy, and their products are used on film sets worldwide. However, K-Tek also offers more affordable solutions for independent filmmakers, small production companies, and sound engineers starting their journey in the industry.
The K-Tek Indie Pole is a limited-edition lineup of boom poles, primarily designed for independent filmmakers, news reporters, documentary filmmakers, and vloggers. The Indie Poles are made from a proprietary composite material, which, according to K-Tek, is “lightweight, durable, and easy to handle in the most demanding environments, with an independent filmmaker’s budget in mind.”
The Indie Pole series boom poles are available in three different sizes:
KC88: the most compact. This boom pole has four sections, a collapsed length of 28.75″/73cm and an extended length of 7.4″/2.24m.
KC108: a five-section boompole with a collapsed length of 29.5″/74.9cm and a maximum length of 9.0″/2.75m.
KC134: the longest one, with six sections, a collapsed length of 35.75″/91cm and an extended length of 11.2″/3.4m.
All models come uncabled, except for the KC108, which is available as a cabled model called the KC108CC.
All models feature knurled collars to extend and retract the boom pole, as well as a 3/8″-16 top attachment at the end of the pole, which is compatible with microphone shock mounts or Rycote-style shields.
